Fashion Portraits

Some more practice on portraits (these ones are imagined). I actually prefer to let the paintbrush guide me (the photoshop one), and surprise me with the result!

3 Step Fashion Illustration

Here's some insight into my usual method of sketching a pose and a fashion, in 3 steps. Start with a basic pose - if you're not as skilled sketching without anything to look at for guidance, try searching the web for a fashion model or a template. Utilize a wooden posing figure if you have one, or a ball jointed doll (these are GREAT for sketching fashion)!

Sketch the clothes overtop, making note of where you think gravity and the body would affect how a garment rests or falls.

Add color, a pattern, footwear and anything else that might compliment your new fashion!

Fashion Collection - LadyBug

This small collection was great to design. With only two colors, and some variations in value, red and black become the theme for this bunch.

Changing it up

Wonder how a hairstyle can go from crazy, to cute, to chic? Easy...just by being creative with your imagination, with colours and styles. Try it yourself in your art program on your computer, using the blank template provided, or print it off!

Wild Girl

I love creating something wild on a fashion sketch. Because you can with drawing, you can design exaggerations of the the real thing. A lot of fashion designers do just that. An eight inch heel instead of a four inch, foot-high hair instead of a half-foot, and so on!
